Materials Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
Utilize skills in materials sciences to support new product development, research, failure analysis and ongoing manufacturing operations. Successful hands-on candidate will interact closely with all business areas. Primary role will be development and validation of new materials for implanted medical devices and related accessories.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate on interdepartmental teams for early new product development
Identify and evaluate candidate materials for appropriateness to new and existing applications
Support manufacturing process enhancements and qualifications
Conduct Failure Analysis of returned product, including writing reports and summaries
Design and conduct materials testing
Assist with regulatory compliance evaluations

QUALIFICATIONS:

BS/MS/PhD in Materials Science/Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Physics or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in at least three of the following:

Failure analysis
Compositional analysis (bulk & surface)
Mechanical or rheological test methods
Ceramic formulations and application
Polymer formulations and application
Implanted medical devices
Biocompatible and/or bioactive coatings

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated
Results and team oriented
